in cairo. the u.s. embassy there is closed. no one is being allowed in or out as we speak. >> embassy officials say protesters are blocking the entrance and clashes are happening near nearby. reza sayah is nearby for us. what's happening? >> reporter: there is no indication protesters are targeting the u.s. em wibassy b it was closed as a precaution. these are protesters who clashed with police. these are the trouble-making elements, the teenagers, young men, the 20-somethings who for the past four days vo thrown red sox, debris, molotov cocktails at police. police responded by firing teargas, stun grenades. some police officers have been throwing rocks as well. some of the clashes have been inching toward the assembly which is a couple of blocks from tahrir square. four hours ago the embassy shut its doors saying no one would come in or leave until further notice. more demonstrations scheduled in the days ahead in tahrir square. the embassy announcing that services for american citizens in cairo will be cancelled until further notice. >> this is all over president morsy's power grab.

senators who criticized her over comments she made in the aftermath of the attack on the u.s. consulate in bengha benghazi. this as a cnn/orc new poll shows the obama administration's overall response to that attack does not get high marks. 54% of americans say they are dissatisfied with how the attack was handled. foreign affairs correspondent jill dougherty is at the state department this morning. >> hey, christine. the bottom line, as i look through this poll, i think it says americans do not see a cover-up. that's the one thing. but there is a lot of confusion in this poll, i think, in terms of what americans think, you know, happened, didn't happen, don't forget this has been -- it is confusing. and, it has been highly politicized. so when you look at some of the parts of this poll, for example, you know, thinking it could have been prevented, 48%. 42% think it could not have been prevented. and it's very hard, i think, for americans, to figure that out. who knows unless you have the intelligence information, and all of that has not come out yet. the other thing, though, is that am

. the u.s. congressional delegation and the state house assembly. so the fact is republicans control the government at all levels by big numbers. and i think that this election is going to be much more like 2010 than 2008. i think governor romney's going to carry pennsylvania. >> ron brownstein you agree with that? >> the big question is as you come down to the very end, where republicans are viewing this, is this electorate going to be like the electorate in 2010. racial distribution, partisan distribution, in it's ideological distribution? 2010 was more white, more republican and more conservative. southwest pennsylvania is going to be very tough for president obama. the white working-class voters there are going to move sharply away from him. but what pat toomey did in 2010 was cut the margin in the poor suburban counties outside of philadelphia to only 20,000 vote deficit. in 2008 barack obama won those same counties by 200,000 votes. the question is whether the social issues that are partient in for romney with white collar, white voters, particularly women are going to be a bar
